What is the range of the Mountain Radio EU?Updated 2 months ago

The Mountain Radio EU transmits the maximum power legally allowed for PMR446 radios at 0.5 watts. The maximum line-of-sight range is around 40 kilometers; however, 1 to 5 kilometers is more typical in backcountry terrain.

When transmitting, it's important to keep in mind terrain obstructions that could impact range and clarity, such as ridgelines, heavy tree cover, or rolling hills.  

The toughest environments for radio communication are cities and urban centers, where large buildings block signals, and the air is filled with other radio waves, causing signal noise. In these environments, expect to get up to 1 kilometer of range.
